PHOENIX, AZ – November 17, 2022
The National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) Accredited Examination Programs Committee and NASCLA Staff worked diligently for the last two years with the New Mexico Construction Industries Division on gaining acceptance of the NASCLA Accredited Examination Programs for both Commercial General Building and Electrical Contractors. As of November 16, 2022, we are pleased to announce the New Mexico Construction Industries Division Board has approved accepting these exams which are scheduled to take effect on January 13, 2023.

The NASCLA Accredited Examination Programs were developed to improve the overall quality and validity of trade licensing examinations, for commercial general building and electrical contractors.
New Mexico will join 12 other NASCLA state members who are dedicated to providing contractor mobility. Allowing contractors the opportunity to cross state borders without having to take multiple trade examinations saves time and money. It also offers a shared standard for examinations while still maintaining state sovereignty for its agency’s licensing requirements.
