NASCLA Hosts 5th Annual Mission in Marshall, North Carolina, Supporting Community Recovery Efforts

Marshall, North Carolina — The National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) is proud to announce its 5th Annual Mission, taking place on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, in the Town of Marshall, North Carolina. This year’s initiative in collaboration with Lowe’s Services and the Town of Marshall, will support ongoing recovery and restoration efforts following storm-related damage to key public spaces that serve residents and visitor.

The NASCLA 2026 Annual Mission will focus on hands-on improvement projects at Blannahassett Island Park and Rollins Park, two heavily used community parks that experienced significant impacts from flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. NASCLA volunteers will work alongside volunteers from the North Carolina Plumbing and Heating Board, North Carolina Electrical Board, North Carolina General Contractors Board, and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors of North Carolina to complete a range of projects designed to restore functionality, enhance safety, and strengthen long-term resilience.

This mission reflects NASCLA’s continued commitment to service, collaboration, and meaningful community impact.

“At NASCLA, service is at the heart of what we do,” said Angie Whitaker, NASCLA Executive Director. “Our Annual Mission allows us to extend our work beyond regulatory collaboration and into the communities that need support. We are honored to partner with local leaders in Marshall to help restore these important public spaces.”

At Blannahassett Island Park, volunteers will complete facility and infrastructure improvements, including refurbishment of public restrooms involving plumbing, electrical, and exterior painting work. Additional projects include repair and refurbishment of the fishing pier and environmental restoration efforts such as tree installation along the riverbank to support stabilization and recovery.

At Rollins Park, volunteers will focus on playground and grounds restoration. Projects include playground edging installation, mulch, shrub and landscaping installation, building concrete forms, and constructing a small foot bridge over a drainage area.

“This mission represents the power of collaboration between regulatory professionals and local communities,” said Dale Dawson, NASCLA President. “We are proud to support Marshall’s recovery efforts and help restore spaces that bring North Carolina families and neighbors together.”

“At Lowe’s we have a deep passion for serving others in times of need. In service of that passion, we are extremely excited to partner with NASCLA for a mission effort in the town of Marshall. We will be partnering to rebuild a park and recreation area that was heavily affected in the floods from Hurricane Helene. We are happy to help breathe life back into a park that everyone in the town can enjoy,” said Dale Johnson of Lowe’s Services.

By focusing on the restoration of public parks and shared spaces, NASCLA aims to provide a direct and lasting benefit to the Town of Marshall as it continues to recover and rebuild following Hurricane Helene.
