National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) Launches Contractor Licensee Database to Enhance License Mobility and Portability Across Jurisdictions

Phoenix, Arizona, April 3, 2023  - The National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) is proud to announce the launch of its new initiative, the Contractor Licensee Database. The database is designed to facilitate license mobility and portability across various jurisdictions in the construction industry.

The construction industry is one of the most important and dynamic industries in the country, and licensed contractors play a crucial role in the success of the industry. However, different states have different licensing requirements for contractors, which can make it difficult for licensed contractors to work across state lines. This can result in delays and added costs, hindering the growth of the industry and the ability of licensed contractors to expand their businesses.

The Contractor Licensee Database is an innovative solution that aims to address these challenges by creating a centralized database of licensed contractors. The database will enable licensed contractors to easily apply for licenses in new states, and jurisdictions will be able to verify the validity of licenses from other states quickly and efficiently.

NASCLA is inviting Member State Agencies to participate in this initiative by providing data on their licensed contractors to be included in the database. By joining this effort, member state agencies can help create a comprehensive database that can benefit all stakeholders.

We are excited to launch the Contractor Licensee Database and believe that it will greatly benefit licensed contractors and the construction industry as a whole," said NASCLA's Executive Director, Angie Whitaker. "By providing a centralized repository for contractor licensees, we are making it easier for licensed contractors to work across state lines and for jurisdictions to verify the validity of licenses from other states. We invite all our member state agencies to participate in this initiative to make it a success.

The Contractor Licensee Database is part of NASCLA's ongoing efforts to enhance license mobility and portability for licensed contractors across various jurisdictions. Member state agencies can participate in this initiative by providing data on their licensed contractors to be included in the database.
